🌄 Doi Inthanon National Park – The Roof of
Thailand
Doi Inthanon National Park is one of Thailand’s most spectacular natural attractions and home to the
highest mountain in the country, standing at 2,565 meters above sea level. Located about 90 kilometers
southwest of Chiang Mai, the park is famous for its cool climate, lush forests, stunning waterfalls,
panoramic viewpoints, and rich biodiversity.
Often referred to as “The Roof of Thailand”, Doi Inthanon National Park is a must-visit destination for

📜 History & Significance
Doi Inthanon is named after King Inthawichayanon, the last king of Chiang Mai, who was deeply
concerned about forest conservation. His ashes are enshrined near the summit as a tribute to his dedication to
preserving northern Thailand’s natural heritage.
The area was declared a national park in 1972 and has since become one of the most visited national parks in
Thailand.

🏔 Doi Inthanon Summit
The highest point in Thailand features a sign marking the elevation and a short nature trail through mossy

Twin Royal Pagodas
The King and Queen Pagodas (Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon & Naphaphonphumisiri) were built
