📍 Overview
Mueang Sing Historical Park is one of the most important ancient archaeological sites in
Kanchanaburi Province. Located along the Khwae Noi River, approximately 40 kilometers
from Kanchanaburi town, the park preserves the ruins of a Khmer-era city dating back to the
12th–13th century.
Surrounded by mountains and lush greenery, Mueang Sing offers visitors a unique blend of
history, archaeology, culture, and peaceful natural scenery, making it an excellent

📜 Historical Background
Mueang Sing was once a fortified city under the influence of the Khmer Empire, which ruled
much of Southeast Asia during the Angkor period. The city is believed to have been an important
military and administrative outpost, controlling transportation and trade routes along the river.
Archaeological evidence suggests that the city flourished during the reign of King Jayavarman
VII, one of the greatest Khmer kings. Unlike many Khmer sites in Thailand, Mueang Sing is
unique because it is located far west, demonstrating how far Khmer influence once extended.
